The world of the lighthouse has fascinated people for over a century.  The Admiralty Head Lighthouse is one of those places that you will want to visit while you are doing your Washington tourism exploration.  The history of the lighthouse and the wars that is has been used through are all part of the fascinating story surrounding this particular lighthouse.Even during the Spanish-American War era the lighthouse was used to keep the unfriendly ships out of the Strait and allow friendly ones to pass.  It was also a site that worked for a gun emplacement for Fort Casey.The orginal lighthouse was torn down in 1928 and a new one constructed.  The new one was built in a Spanish style that can withstand the earthquakes that occasionally occur in the area.  Today it is a gift shop and museum for you to visit.
